Cavan Digital Hub Acceptable Usage Policy

This Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) covers the security of the Cavan Digital Hub network. This policy applies to all Cavan Digital Hub employees, clients & contractors (hereafter referred to as ‘individuals’).

Aim of the AUP

The aim of this AUP is to ensure that clients use Cavan Digital Hub’s internet resources in a safe and responsible manner..

It is envisaged that clients & management will revise the AUP regularly. Before signing, the AUP should be read carefully to ensure that the conditions of use are accepted and understood.

Individuals must not:

use the service for the transmission of illegal material. The user agrees to refrain from sending or receiving any materials which may be deemed to be offensive, abusive, indecent, hard-core or paedophile pornography, defamatory, obscene, menacing or otherwise as prohibited by current and future statutes in force. The user agrees to refrain from sending or receiving any material, which may be in breach of copyright (including intellectual property rights), confidence, privacy, or other rights.
send data via the internet using forged addresses or data which is deliberately designed to adversely affect other machines (including but not limited to denial of service, ping storm, Trojans, worms, and viruses).
Downloading materials or images that are illegal. This is in direct breach of the Hub’s acceptable use policy.
Open attachments from non-recognised senders or access unsecured websites. It is the responsibility of your company if such incidents occur.
Use the Cavan Digital Hub network to perpetrate any form of fraud, and/or software, film or music piracy.
Introduce malicious software onto the Cavan Digital Hub network and/or jeopardize the security of the organization’s electronic system.
Connect any unauthorised devices to the Cavan Digital Hub network or IT systems.
Attempt any unauthorised changes to Cavan Digital Hub IT systems.

If you are in any doubt as the legality of what you are doing, or propose to do, you should either seek independent legal advice or cease that usage.

Clients should familiarise themselves with:

Interception Act 1993
Video Recordings Act 1989
The Data Protection Act 1988

Clients are asked to act in accordance with the most current laws of Ireland. Cavan Digital Hub reserves the right to report any illegal activities to the appropriate authorities.

Clients are asked to observe good “netiquette” (internet etiquette) at all times and will not undertake any actions that may bring Cavan Digital Hub into disrepute.

Cavan Digital Hub may change this policy to include changes in the law or in the acceptable practice of internet use and reserves the right to make such changes without notice and whenever required. All users are responsible for ensuring that they have read and understood the current policy.

It is a requirement of Cavan Digital Hub that all users of its network or facilities accept and adhere to this AUP. All clients are required to read and sign the AUP User Agreement, copies of which are kept on file by Management.

NOT ACCEPTABLE USE – knowingly downloading or requesting software or media files or data streams that Cavan Digital Hub has reason to believe will use a greater amount of network bandwidth than is appropriate or is not appropriate for business usage.

User compliance:

I understand and will abide by Cavan Digital Hub’s Acceptable Usage Policy. I further understand that should I, or any of my staff, commit any violation of this policy, disciplinary action and/or appropriate legal action may be taken. I sign this on behalf of myself & my employee’s.
