Junior Minister Damien English met with a number of Cavan companies on a visit to the county on Wednesday.
The Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail visited the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) as part of a series of nationwide engagements by the Minister, who’s described as “keen to meet the Local Enterprise Office teams and some of their client companies”.
Minister English began his visit at Cavan Digital Hub, where he met with Cllr. Clifford Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Chief Executive, Tommy Ryan and representatives of the Council, as well as Marcella Rudden, Head of Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office Cavan.
Speaking following his visit, Minister English said it was great “to hear first-hand what is going on in” local areas. He praised the work of LEOs, saying their services “have never been as important as businesses battle Covid and Brexit as well as many other challenges”.
Minister English also met two businesses based at the Digital Hub, Richard Stafford of Apridata Ltd and Garreth Tackney and Damien McBreen of EDAC Ltd.
He also met Chocolatier Ann Rudden from Stradone based Áine Handmade Chocolates and on his final stop he visited Arch-1 Modular Solutions.
It was established in October 2020 by Gareth Rothwell and Matt Fitzgerald, who have over 20 years construction, engineering and design/consultancy experience. They identified a gap in the market for superior, steel frame, modular building solutions that could be easily transported.
